Miss Hawaii’s Novemeber 2018 Recap!

This post was submitted by Penelope Ng Pack, Miss Hawaii 2018 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org/guest-post

Aloha Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Ohana!

This is Penelope Ng Pack, your Miss Hawaii 2018. I won the Miss Hawaii competition this past June and represented our state in the prestigious Miss America competition in September 2018. An Advertising Assistant Account Executive and vocalist, I was so honored to bring home the Women in Business Award and a coveted Non-Finalist Talent Award for our state.

The Miss America Organization’s national partner is Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. As Miss Hawaii, I love being the official goodwill ambassador for Hawaii’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: Kapi’olani Medical Center (KMC)! All funds raised for CMN stay local and I get to work with my friend Kayle Osai, our CMN Champion to promote KMC and their mission of a healthier Hawaii!

Some of my favorite CMN events so far have been Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen where I got behind the counter and served up some Blizzards to benefit KMC, ACE Bucket Day, the CMN Radiothon where I got to meet some of our past CMN Champions, my first official KMC visit, the CMN and Ko’Olina Kids Film & Music Festival, the Waikiki Bazaar Festival, and early holiday family photo taking with the O’ahu Wedding Association where I met the only quintuplets on the island, just to name a few!

So far in November, I’ve congratulated and thanked Panda Express in Moanalua for being the #1 fundraiser in 2017 with over $25,000 raised for CMN! We got to meet the regional management team and give leis to the employees that were made by KMC patients. I’m looking forward to Giving Tuesday on 11/27 at Alex & Ani in Ala Moana Center with my Miss Hawaii’s Outstanding Teen: Sophia Stark! Please join us from 1-4pm – 15% of all purchases will benefit CMN!

Pictured here are the Alex & Ani bracelets the Miss America organization gifted each candidate – 20% of each Unicorn Charm Bangle purchase goes to CMNH.

This first blog post is an introduction to my year of service, and I’m excited to continue sharing a monthly recap of my partnership with KMC for the rest of my year of service through June 2019.

I’m so thankful every day for the once in a lifetime opportunity to be your Miss Hawaii, and humbled to serve and represent our community. Wishing a happy belated Thanksgiving to all of you and your ohanas. Check back in December for my next monthly recap!

With aloha,

Penelope
