Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Panda Express!

Happy Lunar New Year, Panda Express.

Local Panda Express restaurants kicked off the Lunar New Year celebrating their 2018 fundraising total. Employees and customers donated more than $19,000 to Connecticut Children’s. This is a 255% increase from the year prior. WOW! To celebrate this accomplishment, a “thank you” plaque with patient artwork was presented to each Panda Express location to show gratitude for their dedication to Connecticut Children’s.

Visit your local Panda Express to continue the celebration of the Lunar New Year. Lunar New Year marks the coming together of family and friends to feast and welcome the new year. A variety of lucky foods are traditionally eaten for their symbolic meaning.

Another tradition involves receiving a red envelope, called hong bao. These monetary gifts are presented at social and family gatherings to loved ones as a sign of good wishes. The color red symbolizes good luck and is said to ward off evil spirits. Panda Express is handing out red envelopes that include a paper fortune and coupons for a free chicken egg roll and 22 oz Dr. Pepper.

You can also make your own red envelope donation to kids treated at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center at the register during your visit.
