Celebrate Chinese New Year with Panda Express and give kids a red envelope

Chinese New Year begins on Saturday, January 28, marking the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar and the beginning of the Year of the Rooster.

The global celebration is marked by bell ringing, firecrackers, lion dances and the giving of red envelopes or hong bao. Red envelopes are traditionally filled with positive wishes and “lucky money” and are most commonly given to kids from their parents, grandparents and others as Chinese New Year gifts.

This year, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals invites you to gather with friends and family to celebrate good fortune and prosperity in the upcoming year at Panda Express while helping sick and injured children get well.

Through February 21, each Family Meal order at Panda Express will include a free Chinese New Year Celebration Kit so guests can discover the joy of togetherness at home. As always, you’ll be asked at the register if you’d like to donate to your local children’s hospital. Please consider your red envelope contribution a gift to children across the country!

“The spirit of Chinese New Year is at the heart of what Panda Express commits to doing every day in our restaurants and communities, which is to bring family and friends together through food and shared experiences,” said Dr. Peggy Cherng, co-chair and co-chief executive officer of Panda Restaurant Group. “The hope of our Chinese New Year celebration is to broaden the understanding and appreciation for a holiday that honors respect for others and time with family. We believe this a universal message to which everyone can relate.”

Panda Express guests and associates at more than 1,800 locations raised $10.4 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2016, bringing the total contribution to 123 network hospitals to $22 million.
