Boise State Dance Marathon Raised More Than $150,000 for St. Luke’s Children’s

On February 24 and 25, over 450 students at Boise State University danced for 17 hours at the 5th annual Boise State Dance Marathon, raising 150,712 for the kids at St. Luke’s Children’s, Idaho’s only Children’s Hospital and their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Boise State Dance Marathon strives to raise monetary support and awareness St. Luke’s Children’s through year-round events. Their ongoing efforts culminate in an event each February when hundreds of students stand on their feet for seventeen hours to show their dedication to the children and families being cared for at St. Luke’s Children’s. At the event, individuals and groups from campus and the community come together to raise awareness for St. Luke’s Children’s and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. During Dance Marathon, dancers are challenged mentally and physically, gaining perspective of the even greater challenges and obstacles facing the children we support.

To fundraise, students maintain donation pages on Donor Drive, reaching out to friends and family to ask for their support. Dancers also have multiple options to give during the event through games and activities, as well as external pushes to engage their social networks.

Boise State Dance Marathon has raised over $372,000 for St. Luke’s Children’s since its start in 2013.

Part of the Miracle Network Dance Marathon program since 2013, Boise State Dance Marathon has provided support to St. Luke’s Children’s so that kids like Prescott receive the best care available. Prescott never wants to miss Dance Marathon, and last year he was at the event only hours after surgery. This year he was able to dance and laugh with his friends. Prescott’s brother Jarrett is a Miracle Child alumni, having participated in past events. Dance Marathon is an event that the whole family loves to participate in.
